Matt5462 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Chiefs, and a B- to prove it. The Rayshaun Benny selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 33 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Banks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Banks at pick 40. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
They paid a round early for Emmett Johnson in Round 3, Pick 10, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick109
Rnd4
Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott at pick No. 109 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick146
Rnd5
Rayshaun Benny
Rayshaun Benny in the 146th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick176
Rnd5
Luke Altmyer
They reached a country mile for Luke Altmyer at slot 176, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
