Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: D-. The Raiders lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. Every board in the league had Lawrence lower, and that gap is the story.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Golday value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In slot 1 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick18
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In the 18th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
LT Overton
LT Overton at Round 2, Pick 4 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick50
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in pick No. 50 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick67
Rnd3
Isaiah World
They paid up for Isaiah World at pick 67 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Omar Cooper Jr. at the 82nd pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jake Golday
You do not let an edge rusher like Jake Golday reach No. 102 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117
Rnd4
Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jakobe Thomas
A clean, defensible pick in the 135th overall pick with a little surplus value in Jakobe Thomas. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick176
Rnd5
Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss at slot 176 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
