Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Moore is the Texans' new face under center. Grade: B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Cam Cook in pick 70, a good 71 spots before the room expected him. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They have staked the next five years on Dante Moore, which is the only story that really matters here. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Brahmer falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Dante Moore
In the 4th pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick70 Rnd3 Cam Cook
A wild overpay on Cam Cook in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106 Rnd4 Anthony Evans III
Value said wait; Anthony Evans III in slot 106 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195 Rnd6 John Nestor
A reasonable price with a little left over, John Nestor in pick No. 195. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick226 Rnd7 Nyziah Hunter
They did well to land Nyziah Hunter in pick 226, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243 Rnd7 Benjamin Brahmer
A quiet steal in Round 7, Pick 22: Benjamin Brahmer for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Sammy Omosigho
Good price on Sammy Omosigho in slot 253, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
