Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Panthers: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Panthers reached some 19 spots for Xavier Atkins, and value like that does not grow back. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Robinson IV at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Ellis Robinson IV
In pick No. 19 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51 Rnd2 Emmanuel Oyebadejo
Emmanuel Oyebadejo in slot 51 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83 Rnd3 Xavier Atkins
They left a pile of value on the table to take Xavier Atkins this early at pick 83. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick120 Rnd4 Ian Strong
A premium they did not need to pay, Ian Strong a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick131 Rnd4 Earl Little Jr.
Earl Little Jr. at No. 131 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198 Rnd6 Quay'sheed Scott
Quay'sheed Scott in Round 6, Pick 19 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick240 Rnd7 Malachi Breland
Malachi Breland at the 240th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
