Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Johnson should have been long gone. The Jaguars pounced, and earned a B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Tae Johnson had no business being available in slot 92, and the Jaguars did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Robinson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Duce Robinson
In the 28th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60 Rnd2 Trevor Lauck
Trevor Lauck at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Tae Johnson
Tae Johnson in pick No. 92 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick129 Rnd4 Tyrique Tucker
No edge and no loss on Tyrique Tucker in No. 129; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick166 Rnd5 Anthony Boswell
Steal is underselling it; Anthony Boswell at pick 166 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick174 Rnd5 Whit Weeks
They read the board right and Whit Weeks was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 36. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick179 Rnd5 Xavier Lucas
A quiet steal in the 179th pick: Xavier Lucas for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick215 Rnd6 Amare Thomas
Amare Thomas in slot 215 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick249 Rnd7 La'khi Roland
They jumped the gun on La'khi Roland, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
