Draft Grade — Colts

The Colts robbed the room for Laloulu. Final grade: B-.

The Colts spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Iapani Laloulu, the No. 100 name on the board, in pick 220. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Mario Craver
Value said wait; Mario Craver in slot 43 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick74 Rnd3 Anthonie Knapp
Anthonie Knapp at the 74th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 J'Koby Williams
J'Koby Williams in Round 4, Pick 9 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jayden Jackson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jayden Jackson in pick 151. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173 Rnd5 DJ Lagway
DJ Lagway in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191 Rnd6 King Mack
A clean, defensible pick in No. 191 with a little surplus value in King Mack. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick220 Rnd6 Iapani Laloulu
You do not let an offensive lineman like Iapani Laloulu reach pick No. 220 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jaden Platt
Jaden Platt in the 232nd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
