ecarrington061 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Chiefs let Echoles fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Will Echoles got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at Round 3, Pick 31. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Peak reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Jacarrius Peak
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Wyatt Young
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Wyatt Young. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick78
Rnd3
Trey'Dez Green
They robbed the room for Trey'Dez Green here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick95
Rnd3
Will Echoles
The board fumbled Will Echoles all the way to pick No. 95, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick132
Rnd4
Corey Myrick
Corey Myrick at Round 4, Pick 31 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick169
Rnd5
Eli Bowen
Eli Bowen slipping to the 169th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick178
Rnd5
Hollywood Smothers
They paid sticker price for Hollywood Smothers in slot 178, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick211
Rnd6
Quintavius Johnson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Quintavius Johnson. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick256
Rnd7
Edwin Spillman
Edwin Spillman in slot 256 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
