Quarterback settled, Mensah in the fold, and a B- for the Buccaneers.

The search is over. The Buccaneers handed the keys to Darian Mensah, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Moten Sr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Darian Mensah
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darian Mensah. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick36 Rnd2 Ahmad Moten Sr.
A big swing on Ahmad Moten Sr. at Round 2, Pick 4, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jyaire Hill
A wild overpay on Jyaire Hill in pick 71, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Greg Johnson
They robbed the room for Greg Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick143 Rnd5 Taylor Wein
They liked Taylor Wein enough to skip the value, taking him in the 143rd pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick183 Rnd6 Fox Crader
Fox Crader at No. 183 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick228 Rnd7 C.J. Fite
C.J. Fite in slot 228 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
