Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The Bengals put a flag in the ground for Mateen Ibirogba, 53 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The Bowen pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The back end got a real overhaul.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Leonard Moore
In slot 15 they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50 Rnd2 Lance Heard
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Lance Heard. The roster fit checks out.
Pick81 Rnd3 Peter Clarke
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Peter Clarke well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99 Rnd3 Peyton Bowen
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Peyton Bowen in the 99th pick, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117 Rnd4 Mateen Ibirogba
They talked themselves into Mateen Ibirogba at the 117th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick153 Rnd5 Drayk Bowen
They paid a round early for Drayk Bowen in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Cayden Lee
They paid sticker price for Cayden Lee in slot 197, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick238 Rnd7 Yannick Smith
Yannick Smith is a better player than the 238th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
