ecarrington061 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears

Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Stone: B-. The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: David Stone, the No. 20 name on the board, in pick 86. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They are betting Ross proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Jordan Ross
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a double-digit-sack hope, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55
Rnd2
Kelley Jones
Kelley Jones at pick 55 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick86
Rnd3
David Stone
They will replay David Stone at slot 86 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122
Rnd4
Isaac Brown
Isaac Brown at the 122nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147
Rnd5
Tony Rojas
They read the board right and Tony Rojas was the payoff at the 147th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick203
Rnd6
Horace Lockett
Horace Lockett in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick244
Rnd7
Anthony Colandrea
They liked Anthony Colandrea enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 244. A need, and now a little less of one.
