jimbo92107 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

Grand theft in the 157th overall pick: the Vikings steal Ferrell and grade out a B-. Somebody in pick 157 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Amare Ferrell, the No. 120 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Prongos pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
On the needs board they went 2 of 5, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Charlie Becker
In the 30th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. More want than need.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jadan Baugh
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jadan Baugh in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick78
Rnd3
Kade Pieper
Taking Kade Pieper in No. 78 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94
Rnd3
Bear Alexander
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick 94 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick157
Rnd5
Amare Ferrell
Amare Ferrell at slot 157 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Kam Robinson
They let Kam Robinson come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 26. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick168
Rnd5
A.J. Harris
Value with a capital V on A.J. Harris in pick No. 168, a genuine coup. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick192
Rnd6
Drayk Bowen
Drayk Bowen in the 192nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick203
Rnd6
Braelin Moore
Braelin Moore at Round 6, Pick 24 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick212
Rnd6
King Mack
Circle this one: King Mack at the 212th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick231
Rnd7
Niki Prongos
Niki Prongos at pick No. 231 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
