jimbo92107 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings

FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Vikings for Bennee: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Jackson Bennee had no business being available in pick No. 168, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Charlie Becker
In No. 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver. More want than need.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jadan Baugh
Jadan Baugh in Round 2, Pick 30 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick77
Rnd3
Kade Pieper
Taking Kade Pieper in pick 77 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94
Rnd3
Bear Alexander
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Bear Alexander reach slot 94 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick157
Rnd5
Amare Ferrell
Amare Ferrell at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick164
Rnd5
Nicholas Rodriguez
Nicholas Rodriguez at pick No. 164 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
Jackson Bennee
Jackson Bennee at the 168th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick190
Rnd6
Xavier Lucas
Xavier Lucas at the 190th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick202
Rnd6
Drew Bobo
They robbed the room for Drew Bobo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
King Mack
Circle this one: King Mack at slot 212 is a fall that decides a draft. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Pick230
Rnd7
Mason Curtis
Mason Curtis at Round 7, Pick 9 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
