Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedC TradesB- FutureB-
Echoles should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Will Echoles had no business being available in pick 64, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The cost of the Raiola reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Spending an early pick on tight end with edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
Of all the spots to shop, they chose tight end. Trey'Dez Green in No. 32 leaves edge rusher for later.
Pick64 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Somehow Will Echoles was still sitting there in the 64th pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Kade Pieper in the 76th overall pick, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick96 Rnd3 Dylan Raiola
They talked themselves into Dylan Raiola at slot 96, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159 Rnd5 Jordan Marshall
They paid up for Jordan Marshall at pick No. 159 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick164 Rnd5 Amare Ferrell
Amare Ferrell in pick 164 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick170 Rnd5 Isaiah Sategna III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaiah Sategna III well ahead of where he belonged. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick188 Rnd6 Drayk Bowen
You do not let a linebacker like Drayk Bowen reach Round 6, Pick 9 and blink. They did not. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick200 Rnd6 Drew Bobo
Nice patience on Drew Bobo, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick212 Rnd6 King Mack
Taking King Mack in Round 6, Pick 33 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick237 Rnd7 Emerson Mandell
Emerson Mandell at the 237th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
