Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THETexans
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Texans: C. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Quinten Joyner in pick No. 28, a good 264 spots before the room expected him. A mixed bag that lands at C.
The Pollock value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Quinten Joyner
In No. 28 they get a bell-cow for the offense, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Mario Craver
A reach for Mario Craver in pick No. 38; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59
Rnd2
Anto Saka
This one needs a full-page explanation: Anto Saka in pick 59, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69
Rnd3
A'Marion Peterson
They reached into another round for A'Marion Peterson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jalen Thompson
Jalen Thompson at Round 4, Pick 6 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128
Rnd4
Dashawn Spears
Dashawn Spears at slot 128 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick165
Rnd5
John Mateer
Value said wait; John Mateer in the 165th pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Pick243
Rnd7
Brice Pollock
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 27 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick244
Rnd7
Andrew Rappleyea
Taking Andrew Rappleyea in No. 244 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
