Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-

The Dolphins answered their biggest question with Mensah. Grade: B-.

The Dolphins spent the pick that matters most on Darian Mensah, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

Every board in the league had Johnson lower, and that gap is the story. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Darian Mensah
In No. 3 they get a franchise quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Greg Johnson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Greg Johnson. The roster fit checks out.
Pick65 Rnd3 Princewill Umanmielen
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Princewill Umanmielen well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jaylen McClain
A clean, defensible pick in the 105th pick with a little surplus value in Jaylen McClain. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kam Robinson
Kam Robinson in Round 5, Pick 2 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick153 Rnd5 Brandon Inniss
Brandon Inniss in pick 153 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick181 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III at slot 181 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick247 Rnd7 Sammy Omosigho
They took Sammy Omosigho at par in the 247th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick255 Rnd7 Maraad Watson
Maraad Watson in the 255th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
