Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
D+
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureA+
The Bengals lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story. The Bengals torched the value chart for Nicholas Rodriguez, taking him 57 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Lee that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Leonard Moore
In pick 2 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick10
Rnd1
Matayo Uiagalelei
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Need was not the driver here.
Pick18
Rnd1
Cayden Green
In the 18th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Trey'Dez Green
Trey'Dez Green in pick No. 41 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick49
Rnd2
A'Mauri Washington
They read the board right and A'Mauri Washington was the payoff at slot 49. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick72
Rnd3
Nicholas Rodriguez
They reached into another round for Nicholas Rodriguez, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick86
Rnd3
Nyck Harbor
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nyck Harbor. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 10 with a little surplus value in Trinidad Chambliss. The roster fit checks out.
Pick187
Rnd6
Kayin Lee
Kayin Lee at pick No. 187 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick197
Rnd6
Stephiylan Green
Stephiylan Green in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226
Rnd7
Mark Nabou Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mark Nabou Jr. at the 226th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
