Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Vikings finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D+.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Vikings spent the 94th overall pick on Williams Nwaneri, a name the board had a full 36 spots lower. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.

Drew Mestemaker gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

On value alone, Myrick makes the weekend a net positive.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 KJ Bolden
In pick No. 23 they get a two-high chess piece. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick30 Rnd1 Drew Mestemaker
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62 Rnd2 A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington in No. 62 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick78 Rnd3 PJ Williams
PJ Williams at the 78th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick94 Rnd3 Williams Nwaneri
A real head-scratcher, Williams Nwaneri in Round 3, Pick 30 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick158 Rnd5 Corey Myrick
Somehow Corey Myrick was still sitting there in slot 158, and they pounced on premier safety value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick164 Rnd5 Demond Williams Jr.
You do not let a quarterback like Demond Williams Jr. reach slot 164 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167 Rnd5 Kam Robinson
The board fumbled Kam Robinson all the way to the 167th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick181 Rnd5 Walker Lyons
They will replay Walker Lyons at No. 181 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick190 Rnd6 Eugene Wilson III
Eugene Wilson III in the 190th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick202 Rnd6 Malachi Breland
Malachi Breland in pick 202 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick229 Rnd7 Sheridan Wilson
Fair-plus on Sheridan Wilson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
