Draft Grade — Patriots

More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B to prove it.

The Noah Fifita selection is the head-turner. The Patriots reached 43 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The Moore Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Dylan Stewart
Nice patience on Dylan Stewart, who had no business lasting to No. 20. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick51 Rnd2 Omarion Miller
Value said wait; Omarion Miller in pick No. 51 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85 Rnd3 Mark Fletcher Jr.
Circle this one: Mark Fletcher Jr. at Round 3, Pick 21 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Earl Little Jr.
A tidy little value on Earl Little Jr. in the 122nd overall pick, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick165 Rnd5 Wendell Gregory
Wendell Gregory in pick 165 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kam Franklin
They reached into another round for Kam Franklin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick187 Rnd6 Noah Fifita
Noah Fifita in pick 187 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211 Rnd6 Sammy Omosigho
Sammy Omosigho at the 211th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick249 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
Somehow DeAndre Moore Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 249, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jordan Castell
A slide stopped in No. 257, with Jordan Castell worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
