Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B-
ValueD+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Lions.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Lions started one anyway for Jamari Sharpe, 41 picks ahead of schedule. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Mack. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Austin Siereveld
A real head-scratcher, Austin Siereveld in No. 15 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick46 Rnd2 Jamari Sharpe
Jamari Sharpe in the 46th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick77 Rnd3 Peyton Bowen
They took Peyton Bowen at par in pick No. 77, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114 Rnd4 Myles Graham
They jumped the gun on Myles Graham, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jayce Brown
A premium they did not need to pay, Jayce Brown a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick191 Rnd6 King Mack
A safety of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 10 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick217 Rnd6 Byrum Brown
They reached a country mile for Byrum Brown at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick237 Rnd7 Stephiylan Green
They paid a round early for Stephiylan Green in No. 237, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick252 Rnd7 Boo Carter
Boo Carter at the 252nd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
