Larceny in the 89th overall pick lands the Giants a B+, Spears and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Dashawn Spears tumbling to the Giants in slot 89 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. If Hubbard pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick58
Rnd2
Bray Hubbard
A premium they did not need to pay, Bray Hubbard a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick89
Rnd3
Dashawn Spears
Dashawn Spears in the 89th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick174
Rnd5
Eli Bowen
Circle this one: Eli Bowen at pick No. 174 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick207
Rnd6
Nyziah Hunter
Nice patience on Nyziah Hunter, who had no business lasting to slot 207. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick209
Rnd6
Gunner Stockton
Gunner Stockton at the 209th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
