Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesD+ FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the 49ers: C+.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Mario Landino in pick No. 210, a good 50 spots before the room expected him.

The Gray steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jordan Seaton
In the 32nd pick they get a long-term starter on the line, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Raleek Brown
A real head-scratcher, Raleek Brown in the 64th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Ben Roberts
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ben Roberts in slot 96. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134 Rnd4 Taylor Wein
Taylor Wein in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick137 Rnd4 Devin McCuin
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Devin McCuin. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Christian Gray
They will replay Christian Gray at No. 169 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jordan Faison
They went early on Jordan Faison in slot 206, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick210 Rnd6 Mario Landino
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mario Landino well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick250 Rnd7 Malachi Nelson
They reached a country mile for Malachi Nelson at pick No. 250, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
