The Commanders found their guy under center in Moore: C+. The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Dante Moore, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
The cost of the Hunter reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In pick 2 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick145
Rnd5
Nyziah Hunter
Nyziah Hunter in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick181
Rnd6
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick No. 181 is lovely value for the cornerback. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick196
Rnd6
Benjamin Brahmer
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Benjamin Brahmer. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jordan Faison
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Faison in the 223rd pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
