Draft Grade — Packers

Larceny in pick No. 236 lands the Packers a B-, Montgomery and all. The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Luke Montgomery, the No. 76 name on the board, sitting there at slot 236 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They will need Brown to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick52
Rnd2
Drew Mestemaker
Somehow Drew Mestemaker was still sitting there in pick No. 52, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick84
Rnd3
Amaris Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Amaris Williams. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick120
Rnd4
Isaac Brown
They talked themselves into Isaac Brown at the 120th pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick158
Rnd5
Elijah Rushing
They left a pile of value on the table to take Elijah Rushing this early at slot 158. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick199
Rnd6
Smith Snowden
A wild overpay on Smith Snowden in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick236
Rnd7
Luke Montgomery
They will replay Luke Montgomery at pick 236 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick254
Rnd7
Khalil Barnes
Khalil Barnes at Round 7, Pick 38 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick257
Rnd7
Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt at No. 257 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
