Jaydog17 DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
C

FutureB-
The Buccaneers did enough to get by: C. Nobody had Jaden Platt this high, and it is not close. The Buccaneers reached 178 spots to get him at Round 1, Pick 15.
The Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
If Jaden Platt and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jaden Platt
In pick No. 15 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
David Stone
They will replay David Stone at the 46th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick77
Rnd3
Carter Smith
Carter Smith at No. 77 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick116
Rnd4
James Smith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, James Smith well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Dylan Lonergan
Dylan Lonergan in Round 5, Pick 15 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick193
Rnd6
Xavier Lucas
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Xavier Lucas in slot 193, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick229
Rnd7
Elinneus Davis
Taking Elinneus Davis in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
