Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedC+ TradesA+ FutureC-
The Cowboys worked the phones like thieves and earned a C+.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Quincy Rhodes Jr. at pick 53 is 58 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. With cornerback, offensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Chris Cole
In slot 19 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, reach and all. More want than need.
Pick22 Rnd1 Nick Marsh
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick42 Rnd2 Kewan Lacy
A straight-up fair deal on Kewan Lacy at the 42nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick53 Rnd2 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
Quincy Rhodes Jr. in pick No. 53 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick99 Rnd3 Corey Myrick
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 3, Pick 35 on Corey Myrick with cornerback, offensive lineman and other spots unsolved.
