Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Some picks age like wine; Micah Morris at pick 217 will need to, sitting 88 spots clear of his grade. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Cashius Howell
In the 13th pick they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him.
Pick21 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 21 they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick113 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
Monroe Freeling in pick No. 113 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick152 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
A straight-up fair deal on Davison Igbinosun at pick 152, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick179 Rnd5 Duce Robinson
A quiet steal in the 179th overall pick: Duce Robinson for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick181 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Xavier Nwankpa. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick217 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick228 Rnd7 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in Round 7, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
