Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Scott: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Keionte Scott at pick No. 97 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at slot 49 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jonah Coleman
A tidy little value on Jonah Coleman in Round 3, Pick 10, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
A quiet steal in No. 84: Domonique Orange for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick97
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott at pick 97 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
Bishop Fitzgerald at the 109th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick146
Rnd5
Malik Benson
They read the board right and Malik Benson was the payoff at pick No. 146. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick176
Rnd5
Aaron Anderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Aaron Anderson in the 176th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick234
Rnd7
Raylen Wilson
Good price on Raylen Wilson in the 234th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254
Rnd7
Andre Fuller
The board fumbled Andre Fuller all the way to pick No. 254, and they scooped it up. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
