Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueA+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys let Viliamu-Asa fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, the No. 14 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Jeremiah Smith
In No. 31 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46 Rnd2 Julian Sayin
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Julian Sayin in pick 46, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95 Rnd3 Lance Heard
Lance Heard at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 Chris Peal
The board fumbled Chris Peal all the way to Round 4, Pick 22, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177 Rnd5 Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
Taking Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa in the 177th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
