Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueA NeedA TradesB- FutureB-
McKinney should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B+.

The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: DJ McKinney, the No. 143 name on the board, sitting there at No. 199 like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jeremiah Smith
In No. 14 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jordan Seaton
Taking Jordan Seaton in Round 2, Pick 11 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick120 Rnd4 Mario Craver
You do not let a wide receiver like Mario Craver reach pick No. 120 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick199 Rnd6 DJ McKinney
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, DJ McKinney in the 199th overall pick, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick240 Rnd7 Sammy Omosigho
They paid sticker price for Sammy Omosigho in slot 240, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
