Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Parker II reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
In slot 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick19
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
KC Concepcion
They paid sticker price for KC Concepcion in pick 39, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II at the 70th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick107
Rnd4
Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers in the 107th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146
Rnd5
Blake Miller
The board had Blake Miller higher than Round 5, Pick 6, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick147
Rnd5
Logan Jones
Logan Jones slipping to No. 147 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jaden Greathouse
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaden Greathouse. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick197
Rnd6
Drayk Bowen
Drayk Bowen at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick240
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci in pick No. 240 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
