Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Drew Allar; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 65 spots ahead at Round 3, Pick 12.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Miller falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In the 21st overall pick they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick53 Rnd2 Christen Miller
A slide stopped in pick No. 53, with Christen Miller worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Drew Allar
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drew Allar in the Round 3 slot, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick85 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad slipping to No. 85 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley at slot 99 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
They paid sticker price for Keylan Rutledge in pick 121, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick135 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst in pick No. 135 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159 Rnd5 Lander Barton
They went early on Lander Barton in the 159th pick, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick213 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the 213th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Desmond Reid
A clean, defensible pick in No. 214 with a little surplus value in Desmond Reid. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Kamran James
Kamran James at pick 224 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick237 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
A real head-scratcher, Keaten Wade in slot 237 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
