TimBro59 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns
Overall

FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Browns. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Browns reached some 49 spots for Pat Coogan, and value like that does not grow back.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Igbinosun pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Monroe Freeling
In pick 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick24
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In pick No. 24 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Omar Cooper Jr.
They paid up for Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 39 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70
Rnd3
Josiah Trotter
Josiah Trotter at the 70th overall pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
They jumped the gun on Jalon Kilgore, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick139
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at Round 5, Pick 1 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
They liked Tanner Koziol enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 144. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick147
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan in the 147th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister slid further than he should have, and the 204th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick248
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
No edge and no loss on Trey Zuhn III in Round 7, Pick 32; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
