Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Browns.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Browns did exactly that with Will Kacmarek in pick No. 248. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

On value alone, Moore makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In No. 6 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In the 24th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
They liked Gennings Dunker enough to skip the value, taking him in the 39th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70 Rnd3 Austin Barber
They paid a round early for Austin Barber in pick 70, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107 Rnd4 Devin Moore
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Devin Moore in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick139 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
They took Beau Stephens at par in pick No. 139, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
By-the-book stuff, Tanner Koziol at pick 144 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147 Rnd5 Louis Moore
Louis Moore at the 147th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in Round 6, Pick 25 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Will Kacmarek
They reached a country mile for Will Kacmarek at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
