Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Browns: B-.

The Browns bet big and early on Fernando Carmona, 24 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Landing Thompson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick 11 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick28 Rnd1 Emmanuel Pregnon
In No. 28 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Trevor Goosby
Trevor Goosby at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Max Klare
Good price on Max Klare in the 70th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107 Rnd4 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
No drama and no debate, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren went about where he belonged in slot 107. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick139 Rnd5 Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at the 139th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick144 Rnd5 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at pick No. 144 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147 Rnd5 Logan Jones
Logan Jones in Round 5, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick206 Rnd6 Brenen Thompson
Circle this one: Brenen Thompson at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick248 Rnd7 Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona at the 248th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
