Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
C
ValueF
NeedA-

FutureB-
The Steelers answered their biggest question with Arnold. Grade: C. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jackson Arnold at pick 4 is 200 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A mixed bag that lands at C.
Mendoza at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Everything downstream of Jackson Arnold depends on Jackson Arnold, and the building knows it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
If Jackson Arnold and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Jackson Arnold
In the 4th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jeremiyah Love
A running back of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick84
Rnd3
Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers at slot 84 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119
Rnd4
CJ Allen
They barely believed it either: CJ Allen still on the board at the 119th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick133
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
They paid sticker price for Jude Bowry in No. 133, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick160
Rnd5
Fernando Mendoza
Fernando Mendoza in Round 5, Pick 20 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jahiem White
A wild overpay on Jahiem White in Round 6, Pick 19, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick213
Rnd6
Evan Tengesdahl
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Evan Tengesdahl. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
