Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The Steelers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Steelers did exactly that with Gunner Stockton in Round 3, Pick 12.
Getting Green where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
They took Carnell Tate at par in the 21st pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick52
Rnd2
Caleb Lomu
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Lomu at the Round 2 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick76
Rnd3
Gunner Stockton
Gunner Stockton at Round 3, Pick 12 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick83
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
They paid up for Nicholas Singleton at the 83rd overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick99
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange at pick No. 99 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick121
Rnd4
Harold Perkins Jr.
A tidy bit of business in pick 121, where Harold Perkins Jr. graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick160
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at pick No. 160 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick212
Rnd6
Pat Coogan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Pat Coogan this early at Round 6, Pick 34. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jackson Arnold
Jackson Arnold in pick 213 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick218
Rnd7
Taylen Green
Taylen Green in slot 218 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick235
Rnd7
Trey Leckner
They talked themselves into Trey Leckner at No. 235, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
