Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets drew a line under the quarterback search with Maiava: B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Jayden Maiava, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The Collins pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Baxter falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
Spencer Fano in pick No. 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick28 Rnd1 Jayden Maiava
In No. 28 they get a franchise quarterback, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Denzel Boston
Denzel Boston in slot 36 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick44 Rnd2 John Mateer
They went early on John Mateer in the 44th pick, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick105 Rnd4 Joe Royer
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Joe Royer in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick178 Rnd5 CJ Baxter
CJ Baxter at pick 178 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick193 Rnd6 Darius Taylor
They read the board right and Darius Taylor was the payoff at the 193rd overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205 Rnd6 Raylen Wilson
They paid up for Raylen Wilson at Round 6, Pick 27 when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick210 Rnd6 Kelby Collins
Kelby Collins at slot 210 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick215 Rnd7 Peyton Bowen
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Peyton Bowen well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick240 Rnd7 Miller Moss
They will replay Miller Moss at Round 7, Pick 26 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick253 Rnd7 Conner Weigman
Steal is underselling it; Conner Weigman at the 253rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick254 Rnd7 Semaj Morgan
They reached into another round for Semaj Morgan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
