The Steelers drew a line under the quarterback search with Beck: C.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Jayden Limar; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 243 spots ahead at pick No. 99. A mixed bag that lands at C.

That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The whole projection now runs through Carson Beck; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while edge rusher and linebacker went begging. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Carson Beck
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick51 Rnd2 Ty Simpson
Taking Ty Simpson in the 51st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick79 Rnd3 Peyton Bowen
Value said wait; Peyton Bowen in No. 79 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick84 Rnd3 Max Iheanachor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Max Iheanachor in the 84th pick, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jayden Limar
They reached into another round for Jayden Limar, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick119 Rnd4 Brian Parker II
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 119 on Brian Parker II with edge rusher and linebacker unsolved.
Pick133 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bryce Lance in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick160 Rnd5 Isaiah Jatta
They talked themselves into Isaiah Jatta at pick No. 160, and the board did not agree. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick213 Rnd6 Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite at the 213th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jadarian Price
You do not let a running back like Jadarian Price reach Round 6, Pick 34 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219 Rnd7 James Smith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, James Smith well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick235 Rnd7 Eli Stowers
The board fumbled Eli Stowers all the way to No. 235, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
