Draft Grade — Rams
Overall D
ValueF NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Rams bet the future on Johnson. The board says D.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Rams took Samson Okunlola a full 378 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

That Allen pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Whatever Avery Johnson becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Samson Okunlola
In the 11th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27 Rnd1 Avery Johnson
In No. 27 they get their quarterback of the future, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Isaac Smith
Isaac Smith at slot 58 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick89 Rnd3 Dijon Johnson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dijon Johnson well ahead of where he belonged. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick142 Rnd5 Jayden Limar
Value said wait; Jayden Limar in pick No. 142 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick166 Rnd5 CJ Allen
CJ Allen in pick 166 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick191 Rnd6 Aaron Anderson
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 191st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204 Rnd6 Zach Rice
A big swing on Zach Rice at pick 204, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick226 Rnd7 Chase Roberts
Somehow Chase Roberts was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 12, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick247 Rnd7 Dylan Lonergan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dylan Lonergan this early at slot 247. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
