The Bears did not so much draft Patrick Payton as overpay for him, 38 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Pregnon at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
