Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Steelers to leave a draft. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Every board in the league had Concepcion lower, and that gap is the story. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
KC Concepcion
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a true top target, though they paid up to get him.
Pick53
Rnd2
Garrett Nussmeier
Good price on Garrett Nussmeier in pick No. 53, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Drew Shelton
They paid sticker price for Drew Shelton in slot 76, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick85
Rnd3
Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen in pick 85 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99
Rnd3
Joe Royer
They did well to land Joe Royer in No. 99, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
