The Vikings did enough to get by: C. The rest of the league had time to spare on Christian Gray; the Vikings did not wait, grabbing him 306 spots ahead at slot 35.
However the rest shakes out, Price at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Alexander Mattison gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Hit on Christian Gray and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Christian Gray
They talked themselves into Christian Gray at No. 35, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Justice Haynes
Value said wait; Justice Haynes in the 49th overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
Christen Miller
Steal is underselling it; Christen Miller at Round 3, Pick 11 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick80
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II in pick 80 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97
Rnd3
Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jaquaize Pettaway
They reached into another round for Jaquaize Pettaway, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick169
Rnd5
Terrance Carter Jr.
A tight end of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 28 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dante Lovett
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dante Lovett well ahead of where he belonged. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in slot 220 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
James Williams Sr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for James Williams Sr.. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
