Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesC FutureA-
More right than wrong for the Dolphins, and a B- to prove it.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 82 spots for Nadame Tucker, and value like that does not grow back. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Landing Prysock that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In pick No. 11 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick31 Rnd1 Gabe Jacas
In slot 31 they get a bendy edge with upside, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
A big swing on Elijah Sarratt at the 59th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87 Rnd3 Caden Curry
Caden Curry at pick 87 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Michael Trigg
A wild overpay on Michael Trigg in the 90th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94 Rnd3 Nadame Tucker
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nadame Tucker well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick170 Rnd5 J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor in the 170th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick176 Rnd5 Cole Payton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cole Payton in the 176th pick, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212 Rnd6 Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock in No. 212 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick227 Rnd7 Kalil Alexander
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kalil Alexander this early at pick No. 227. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jack Kelly
They talked themselves into Jack Kelly at pick 238, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
