Best value of the weekend goes to the Dolphins for Slaughter: C+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jake Slaughter at Round 3, Pick 30 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

The Eastern pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

So much rides on Gabe Jacas that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick43 Rnd2 Gabe Jacas

Gabe Jacas at the 43rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Pick50 Rnd2 Dani Dennis-Sutton

Dani Dennis-Sutton in Round 2, Pick 18 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Pick75 Rnd3 Skyler Bell

A reach for Skyler Bell in the 75th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Pick94 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter

Jake Slaughter at slot 94 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

A big swing on Adam Randall at the 257th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
