Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Garrett Nussmeier, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Kearney has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Rucci.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Garrett Nussmeier
In pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Joe Royer
The board had cheaper options than Joe Royer at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick104 Rnd4 Roderick Kearney
Roderick Kearney at the 104th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jyaire Hill
The board had Jyaire Hill higher than slot 139, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182 Rnd6 Daevin Hobbs
A premium they did not need to pay, Daevin Hobbs a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197 Rnd6 Malik Hartford
Malik Hartford in Round 6, Pick 21 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick209 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
They barely believed it either: Nolan Rucci still on the board at No. 209. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Smith Snowden
They read the board right and Smith Snowden was the payoff at pick No. 210. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251 Rnd7 Roderick Robinson II
No drama and no debate, Roderick Robinson II went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 35. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Johntay Cook II
Johntay Cook II in the 253rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
