Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Dolphins: B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Malachi Lawrence at the Round 4 slot is 35 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. On value alone, Thieneman makes the weekend a net positive.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Spencer Fano. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick43 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the 43rd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick75 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Germie Bernard in No. 75. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Mikail Kamara
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mikail Kamara well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
They paid up for Daylen Everette at pick No. 90 when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick111 Rnd4 Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence at pick 111 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd4 J'Mari Taylor
A conviction pick on J'Mari Taylor at the Round 4 slot that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick149 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
A reasonable price with a little left over, Beau Stephens in the 149th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250 Rnd7 Luke Altmyer
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Luke Altmyer at Round 7, Pick 34. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Riley Nowakowski
Riley Nowakowski at the 256th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
