Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Jets checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

The Jets put a flag in the ground for Nolan Rucci, 30 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Jets indulged a want in Styles while a need in interior defensive lineman stayed open.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the 13th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick16 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick 16 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick24 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In slot 24 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman to take Sonny Styles, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A quiet steal in the 39th overall pick: Caleb Banks for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Nice patience on Colton Hood, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick61 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 29 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick93 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch in No. 103 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Charles Jagusah
They took Charles Jagusah at par in pick No. 175, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178 Rnd5 Nolan Rucci
They talked themselves into Nolan Rucci at the 178th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Tristan Leigh
A big swing on Tristan Leigh at slot 192, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick206 Rnd6 Gunner Stockton
A straight-up fair deal on Gunner Stockton at the 206th pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick209 Rnd6 Lawson Luckie
Lawson Luckie at pick 209 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick218 Rnd7 Keyron Crawford
Keyron Crawford in Round 7, Pick 2 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick242 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris at No. 242 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
