Draft Grade — Ravens

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Ravens: C. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Ravens took Keaten Wade a full 190 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The final tally is a middling C.
The Banks pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Hit on Gennings Dunker and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Gennings Dunker
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at slot 45 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick80
Rnd3
Boubacar Traore
Boubacar Traore at the 80th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick115
Rnd4
Anthony Lucas
The board fumbled Anthony Lucas all the way to the 115th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jeremiah Cobb
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jeremiah Cobb well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick160
Rnd5
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in No. 160 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick172
Rnd5
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at pick No. 172 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick173
Rnd5
Keaten Wade
Keaten Wade at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick249
Rnd7
Ricardo Hallman
Ricardo Hallman in the 249th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick252
Rnd7
Evan Tengesdahl
Value said wait; Evan Tengesdahl in pick 252 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
