Draft Grade — Jets
Overall C-
ValueF NeedA- TradesD FutureC
The Jets finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C-.

The Makhi Hughes pick is the one that will follow the Jets into the fall. They took him 159 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

The Roberts steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Arch Manning is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

If Arch Manning and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Arch Manning
In the 1st overall pick they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Makhi Hughes
Makhi Hughes at No. 33 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Pick55 Rnd2 Chris Brazzell II
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 55 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick180 Rnd5 Jaylon Braxton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaylon Braxton in the Round 5 slot, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick188 Rnd6 Malachi Nelson
Malachi Nelson at the 188th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick203 Rnd6 Chase Roberts
They barely believed it either: Chase Roberts still on the board at Round 6, Pick 20. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick213 Rnd6 Zach Rice
A big swing on Zach Rice at No. 213, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick247 Rnd7 Kayin Lee
Kayin Lee in pick No. 247 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick257 Rnd7 Markis Deal
Markis Deal in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
