Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears let Howell fall and pounced. Final grade: D-. The Trey Moore selection is the head-turner. The Bears reached 127 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.
However the rest shakes out, Howell at that price is a win they earned. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
Keldric Faulk slid further than he should have, and No. 25 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Austin Barber
This one needs a full-page explanation: Austin Barber in the Round 2 slot, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick60
Rnd2
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in the 60th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick89
Rnd3
Trey Moore
A big swing on Trey Moore at pick 89, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129
Rnd4
KC Concepcion
KC Concepcion at pick No. 129 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick163
Rnd5
Cashius Howell
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Cashius Howell in the 163rd overall pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the 239th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick241
Rnd7
Brent Austin
Nothing to complain about; Brent Austin went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
